How We Got Here

PUBLISHED ON 20 March 2023

In 2016 we opened Mr Bao in Peckham to share the flavours we’d grown up with. We’ve been blessed with incredible staff and supportive customers from day one, and have been serving up London’s fluffiest buns to the community ever since. We’ll probably never think it’s perfect, but we’re always striving to be better.

In 2017 Mr Bao’s dad, aka Joe, retired after running his renowned Jade Restaurant for 32 years. We had our sights set on a new location and it felt right to open this next restaurant in his honour. Daddy Bao was designed around the way Joe likes to eat and draws on his incredible hospitality expertise and absolute obsession with food.

In 2019 the bosses at Westfield called us about a third site. We set to work to create the best food kiosk we could imagine and Master Bao was born. It’s a super fast-paced food hall, serving thousands of people a week, but we make sure we’re always plating up delicious food with the same care and attention as we do in our restaurants.

Although each site has its own distinctive feel, we want every meal to feel special and celebrate Taiwanese street food flavours.
